How TvDunk handles your data · Effective July 30, 2026

Who we are

TvDunk is operated by TvDunk Ltd (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at support@tvdunk.com.

What we collect

Only what the app needs to work. Specifically:

  • Account details — your email address and name, provided when you register or sign in with Google.
  • Profile — the username and avatar you choose, and your follower and following counts.
  • Viewing activity — the shows and movies you track, which episodes you mark watched and when, your ratings, and your watchlist status.
  • Social activity — who you follow, and your rewatch runs, ratings, notes, and custom lists.
  • Reminders — if you enable episode reminders, we store your email address against that reminder so we can send it.
  • Reports — if you report a metadata problem, we store the note you write.
  • Payment — if you subscribe to Pro, we store your Stripe customer identifier so we can tell whether your subscription is active.
  • Usage — basic first-party records of which features you use and when (for example, opening the app or starting a rewatch), used only to improve the product and never shared.

What we do not do

We do not sell, licence, rent or share your viewing data with anyone, and we do not use it to build audience analytics or sentiment products for third parties.

We keep basic first-party usage records — which features you use and when, such as opening the app or starting a rewatch — to understand what works and improve it. That data stays with us: it is never sold, shared, or sent to any third-party analytics or advertising service. There is no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no session recording, and no cross-site tracking. We do not build advertising profiles.

TvDunk is funded by its Pro subscription. You are the customer, not the product.

Card details

We never see your card. Payments run through Stripe’s own hosted checkout page, so your card number, expiry and security code go directly to Stripe and never reach our systems. We receive only your Stripe customer identifier and whether the subscription is active.

Who we share data with

We use these providers to run the service. Each receives only what its job requires:

  • Base44 — hosts the application, database and authentication, and sends reminder emails on our behalf. Your account and viewing data are stored here.
  • Google — if you choose to sign in with Google, Google handles that sign-in and tells us your email address and name.
  • Stripe — processes subscription payments and holds your billing details.
  • The Movie Database (TMDB) — supplies show and movie information. We request this from our servers, so TMDB does not see who asked. However, posters and images load directly from TMDB in your browser, which means TMDB can see your IP address when images load.

We disclose data otherwise only where the law requires it.

Stored in your browser

We use your browser’s local storage — not cookies — to remember which shows you have put into Amnesia Mode. This stays on your device. Base44 sets a token so you remain signed in.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data, including under the UK and EU GDPR. In all cases:

  • Export — you can download everything you have tracked at any time from your Profile. It is a single JSON file containing your shows, episodes, movies and profile, and it can be restored back into the app.
  • Correction — you can edit your profile in the app, and remove any show, episode or rating yourself.
  • Deletion — you can delete your account yourself from your Profile. It removes your profile, viewing history, movies, shelves, follows and league activity, cancels any active subscription, and cannot be undone. Email us if you would rather we did it.
  • Access, objection and portability — email us and we will respond.

We do not charge for any of this, and we will not ask you why.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal data from our systems. Stripe retains payment records for longer where tax and accounting law requires it.

Children

TvDunk is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes

If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and change the effective date above. Material changes will be notified in the app.
